Wendy Andrews

Wendy is a litigation specialist with over 30 years experience. She appears as Counsel in all New Zealand courts.

Wendy started her career in civil litigation at Grove Darlow and Partners. She then joined Meredith Connell where she was a crown prosecutor and later, an associate of the firm. She prosecuted serious crime in the District and High Courts between 1994 and 2014. She also acted on behalf of the Crown in many civil claims for damages. In 1998, Wendy moved to Dunedin where she was a senior associate at Anderson Lloyd and developed a practice in insolvency, estate and trust litigation. She returned to Auckland in 2002 and to Meredith Connell.

Wendy joined the independent bar in 2014. She has a special interest in wills, trust and estate litigation, general civil disputes, relationship property, and elder law.

  • Advising executors, trustees, beneficiaries, and potential beneficiaries
  • Representing executors and beneficiaries in contested probate applications and applications to validate wills
  • Representing trustees and beneficiaries in respect of claims under the Family Protection Act, Law Reform (Testamentary Promises) Act, and Property (Relationships) Act

Elder Law

  • Applications for the appointment of welfare guardians and property managers
  • Applications by property managers to execute wills for a protected person

Relationship Property

  • Assisting clients in the division of relationship and/or trust property
  • Resolving disputes and representing clients in mediation
  • Preparing and advising on s21 agreements
  • Representing clients in contested relationship property disputes in the Family Court and the High Court

Civil Litigation

  • Contract and tort disputes
  • Property and caveat disputes
  • Shareholder and partnership disputes
  • Insolvency – winding up companies and bankruptcy

Criminal

  • Regulatory prosecutions by Government bodies including SFO, MOH, and MPI
  • Assisting clients in resolving charges and defending charges in the District and High Court
